arachniradio is a configuration of consoles, this specific layout based in my apartment.below i will describe the function of each console. [click to enlarge images]
we will begin with the central painting, which contains 3 fm-transmitters (kogawa schematic) and 2 oscillators that use the CMOS hex schmitt trigger 74C14 chip. one oscillator uses copper tape pads on the surface of the painting to act as a variable resistor that works by touch, and the other uses two photocells on the painting surface as the resistors that react to light.
below is the first of the 3 receivers, the internal electronics ripped from possibly the crustiest most nasty portable fm radio i have ever seen. the image is a depiction of a vinegaroon (inspired by my bella also pictured below)
lastly the third receiver, the internal electronics ripped from a radioshack AM/FM radio (sad, but it was already falling apart) for this one i wanted to try and incorporate more color, inspired by 70s/80s early home computing. inside the dome, an ambiguous arachnid form, reminiscent of harvestmen, glowing from within.
the final sound source for one of the transmitters in the painting is a cracklebox (using Michel Waisvisz STEIM schematic) that i made for a previous console configuration in the spring of 2022
